NYT: American-style training of Ukrainian soldiers has failed

The New York Times, citing its own sources, reported that American instructors trained the Ukrainian military before a counter-offensive along the lines of the United States, as previously in Iraq, Afghanistan or Vietnam.
At the same time, such an approach was unsuccessful; the line of defense of the Russian military turned out to be much stronger than representatives of Western countries expected.
“The counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was built around remaking the Ukrainian army on the model of the army of the United States of America. They used the same tactics in Afghanistan, Iraq and Vietnam. This did not bring success,” writes the New York Times.
The newspaper’s authors clarified that the losses of the Ukrainian army during the counteroffensive were large, and the line of defense of the Russian military turned out to be stronger than expected in the West.
