Novak: Russian fuel and energy complex has learned to develop despite sanctions

The Russian fuel and energy complex (FEC) has been developing under sanctions since 2014. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak, commenting on the words of the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen about new restrictions against this sector of the Russian economy.
“Let’s see. We have been living under sanctions since 2014, we continue to develop, that’s all I can say,” he said (quote according to TASS).
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that it is too early to talk about the impact of the new sanctions, since it is not yet clear what measures will be introduced.
Von der Leyen, who arrived in Kyiv on November 4, said that the EU will soon present the next, 12th package of sanctions against Russia. It will include new restrictions on imports and exports, as well as “actions to tighten oil prices.”
Bloomberg previously wrote that the 12th package of measures could include trade restrictions of $5.3 billion, including on the export of welding machines and chemicals. Bans on software licensing and restrictions on imports of machined metals and aluminum products, construction products, transportation-related products and diamonds are also being considered.
After the start of the special operation, the EU introduced 11 packages of sanctions against Russia in addition to the existing restrictions. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that sanctions pressure on Russia will continue along with attempts to strengthen it, but the country’s economy is ready for this.
