Novak instructed the Federal Tax Service and the Federal Customs Service to monitor compliance with the ban on gasoline exports

The Federal Tax Service (FTS) and customs must monitor compliance with the ban on the export of gasoline and diesel fuel. About it stated Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak at a meeting with representatives of oil companies on the situation on the domestic petroleum products market.

“As a result of the ban on the export of gasoline and diesel fuel, we saw a decrease in prices on the stock exchange. We expect a reduction in these prices to be transmitted to the small wholesale and retail segments, as well as to agricultural producers. Price increases are unacceptable,” Novak noted at the meeting.

He emphasized that due to the export ban, border port bases will be closed for fuel export. Gasoline and diesel, which are already stored in tanks, need to be sent to the domestic market, the Deputy Prime Minister added. He also recalled that the government has already developed and is ready to apply strict administrative and economic measures to combat gray exports.

The Deputy Prime Minister also said that the Cabinet of Ministers is ready to take tough measures if the situation on the fuel market does not change. He called on corporations to urgently take the necessary steps to reduce the cost of fuel at gas stations, as well as bring small-scale wholesale prices in line with large-scale wholesale prices (taking into account transport costs).

According to Novak, retail prices for gasoline and diesel fuel in Russia should decrease in the near future. He noted that the volume of exchange sales of fuel must be kept at the current level until supply and demand in the domestic market lead to balance.

On September 21, the government introduced a temporary restriction on the export of motor gasoline and diesel fuel “to stabilize fuel prices on the domestic market.” The Cabinet of Ministers expects that the ban will help “saturate” the fuel market and reduce prices.

Later, Russian Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin said that the ban on the export of gasoline and diesel will remain in effect indefinitely. According to him, the introduction of the measure will cause rapid changes in the market.
