Activities of environmental organization Bellona banned in Russia
The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation has recognized the Norwegian environmental fund Bellona as an undesirable organization, RBC reports. The publication clarifies that the organization curtailed its activities in the Russian Federation last year and relocated its employees. At the same time, environmentalists continued to publish materials about Russia and Russian industrial companies.
The published justifications for the decision taken by the supervisory authority include the “discrediting of domestic and foreign policy pursued by the authorities, the destabilization of the socio-political situation in the country”, carried out by Norwegian environmentalists, which poses a threat to the security of the Russian Federation, as well as the formation of a negative public opinion about the failure of the state environmental policy.
