The Norwegian government has decided to join the seventh package of sanctions adopted in the European Union on July 21, 2022, informs Norwegian government website.
“The sanctions package adopted by the EU on July 21, 2022 has been incorporated into Norwegian law and comes into force in Norway today,” the statement reads.
“We are once again on the side of the EU regarding sanctions against Russia in order to maintain pressure on the Russian government and its elite,” said Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeld. The purpose of the sanctions in the statement is to reduce the ability of Russia to finance a special operation in Ukraine.
Former Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin declaredthat Western countries are increasing sanctions pressure on Russia and Belarus, and at the same time they themselves feel the negative consequences of these measures. In his opinion, the global food crisis was a direct consequence of the actions of Western states, as well as the volatile economic situation in the world.
July 21 European Union introduced seventh package of sanctions against Russia. A number of officials, actors and Russian organizations fell under the restrictions. In total, the list included 57 people, including Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, actors Vladimir Mashkov and Sergei Bezrukov, and others. The main limitation of the seventh package was a ban on direct and indirect imports, as well as the purchase and transfer of gold, if it is of Russian origin and exported from RF.
