The head of the Norwegian Ministry of Defense, Bjorn Arild Gramm, called on the country’s authorities to prepare for a possible conflict with Russia even after the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.

In an interview with VG, he said that the Norwegian armed forces must be prepared for a possible escalation of the conflict with Russia and be able to quickly respond to threats in cooperation with NATO allies.

According to him, there are no signs of a possible restoration of democratic processes in Russia, and “nothing indicates that Russia will become like us.”

He stated that “this kind of Russia will remain with us for a long time,” so threats from its side will continue. The head of the Norwegian Ministry of Defense emphasized that it is necessary to be prepared for a possible revision of Russia’s plans in response to the membership of Finland and Sweden in NATO.

“We must be prepared for the possibility that Russia may reassess its plans and where it deploys its forces in response to Finland and Sweden’s NATO membership,” he added.
