North Korea enshrined in the Constitution the policy of developing nuclear forces, transmits Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
“The DPRK, as a responsible nuclear weapons state, promotes the development of nuclear weapons to guarantee the country’s right to survival and development, suppress war and protect peace and stability in the region and the planet,” the material said.
The decision was made during the ninth session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK, which was held on September 26 and 27. The meeting was attended by ministers of the DPRK, the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly, etc.
In addition, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended the session as an observer; he gave a speech in which he spoke about US actions to increase the threat of nuclear war.
According to KCNA, the session participants reviewed and “with full support and approval” adopted a bill amending the Constitution of the DPRK. Now the basic law of the republic enshrines the status of the nuclear armed forces in the defense of the country, as well as the principles of state activity in the construction of nuclear armed forces.
