JSC National Media Group has created a separate division for creating documentary content. In 2024, it is planned to release 100 documentaries. The first works will be dedicated to Emperor Alexander III, scientist Dmitry Mendeleev and the maniac of the USSR and Russia Sergei Golovkin.
Director, actor and producer Fyodor Bondarchuk, actors Vadim Demchog, Alexey Nilov, Mikhail Gorevoy and others were involved in the creation of films, it is reported in press release NMG. The new structural unit will be headed by government prize winner Yulia Zasko. The work of the new division will be supervised by NMG Deputy Director Vladimir Tyulin. TV producers Mikhail Tukmachev and Ekaterina Avaliani are responsible for the production part and selection of ideas. An expert council was formed, which included scientists, historians and documentarians.
NMG was created in 2008 by combining the media assets of Rossiya Bank Yuri Kovalchuk and his partners, Alexey Mordashov, Surgutneftegaz OJSC and the Sogaz group. Owners: Bank Russia – 35.5%; “Surgutneftegaz” – 26.22%; SOGAZ – 21.2%; Gazprom-Media – 7.5%. General Director of NMG is Svetlana Balanova. Chairman of the Council – Alina Kabaeva.
The group owns assets in the production, distribution and monetization of information and entertainment content. In particular, REN TV, Channel Five, STS, Domashny, Che; multimedia information center “Izvestia” (includes the newspaper and TV channel “Izvestia”, the Iz.ru portal, news services of the REN and “Fifth” channels); newspapers – “Sport Express”, “Metro St. Petersburg”. The group also owns a blocking stake in Channel One and the Wink online service.
