Nigeria prepares for possible operation against Niger rebels

The Nigerian Defense Headquarters began to prepare for a possible mobilization of troops. The military may be tasked with conducting a military operation under the auspices of ECOWAS against the rebels in Niger. The Nigerian newspaper Punch reported on the start of organizational measures at the defense headquarters.
According to the publication, Nigeria will need about two battalions of 300 to 1,000 soldiers to conduct a military operation in a neighboring state.
Earlier it was reported that the rebels who seized power in Niger, during a visit to Conakry, asked the Guinean authorities for enhanced support. So far, only this country has spoken out in support of the rebels in Niger.
