Adviser Bazuma al-Hassan: ECOWAS invasion of Niger will lead to war in all of Africa
The intervention of the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS) in Niger could lead to war throughout Africa. This was announced by political adviser to the ousted President Mohamed Bazum, Antinekar al-Hassan.
“I don’t think ECOWAS will make this mistake by intervening militarily in Niger because if they intervene militarily, that means the whole of Africa will be at war,” al-Hassan said.
At the end of July, the Nigerian military announced on national television that the head of state, Bazuma, had been removed from power. After some time, the commander of the presidential guard, General Abdurakhman Tchiani, appeared on TV as the head of the “National Council for the Defense of the Fatherland” formed by the participants in the coup. In turn, many Western countries and the regional organization ECOWAS condemned the coup.
