New missile regiment “Avangard” put on combat duty in the Orenburg region

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation put a new regiment with the strategic hypersonic complex “Avangard” on combat duty in the Yasnensky missile formation in the Orenburg region. This is stated in the message of the department on the Day of the Strategic Missile Forces.

“On the eve of the Day of the Strategic Missile Forces in the Tver region, in the Bologovskoye missile formation, a missile regiment equipped with the Yars mobile ground-based missile system took up combat duty, and today a real gift for the professional holiday was the intercession of another regiment equipped with the Avangard missile system in Yasnensky missile formation, ”the Ministry of Defense said in a statement, which was received by Kommersant.

Strategic Missile Forces Commander Sergei Karakayev earlier this week announcedthat the regiment with the Avangard complex will take up combat duty on December 17.

Avangard is equipped with a guided hypersonic warhead, which is launched towards the target with the help of an intercontinental ballistic missile. Able to fly in dense layers of the atmosphere at speeds up to Mach 27 (about 32 thousand km / h). Expectedthat by the end of 2022, 86% of the missile forces will be transferred to modern complexes, including Avangard.
