Actor Timothée Chalamet became the ambassador of the main men’s fragrance Chanel. In an exclusive material, Kommersant Style tells the details, including the history of the fragrance and how the perfumer himself sees it.

Actor Timothée Chalamet will make his debut as a Bleu De Chanel Ambassador in an advertising campaign that will see the fragrance in a new light thanks to the union of the 27-year-old favorite of the public, and the House of CHANEL with its recognized authority in the field of perfumery. (Recall avant-garde olfactory experiments and a breakthrough in the creation of women’s fragrances at the beginning of the last century (classic, Chanel No. 5). In the category of men’s fragrances, the brand also speaks impressively.

If you’ve ever heard Bleu De Chanel, you’ll understand why this fragrance is considered to break the canons of men’s perfumery: its composition has become a new benchmark, offering an innovative look at what a modern man’s fragrance can be. In 2010, an eau de toilette was released, and in 2014, Bleu De Chanel eau de parfum with warmer notes. Chanel perfumer Jacques Polge has opened new olfactory horizons in developing this woody-aromatic composition with sparkling citrus notes.

He was replaced by his son, Olivier Polge, who since 2015 continues his father’s work and directs the creation of Chanel fragrances. He defines the essence of the fragrance as follows:

“There is a duality between an obvious freshness and a kind of inner and sudden form of sensuality and power,” he says. In 2018, Olivier Polge creates a new incarnation of this fragrance – perfume, as another planet in this Bleu-Universe.

“In the story we tell through fragrance, we are trying to express something more complex that goes beyond what each individual ingredient carries,” he explains. Like an artist who mixes colors on a palette in a completely different way. It is partly magical, mysterious work, something more than just a process of creation.

The lens of the famous photographer Mario Sorrenti captures in Timothée Chalamet “the embodiment of a versatile man who is in search of the freedom to be himself and realize himself in all his complexity” (this is the official release of the shooting). Given Timothy’s versatile work, this search for himself seems to be the main driver of his career: think of his roles in the films Call Me by Your Name, Interstellar, Little Women, Dune and All and All. This year, he will continue to star in Dune: Part 2, play Willy Wonka in the musical film of the same name, based on Roald Dahl’s novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and play the role of Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s Total Stranger.

The role for Bleu De Chanel for him is the first attempts at writing as an ambassador for a fashion or cosmetic brand. Timothy says in an interview that he is not one of those who use the fragrance every day. “For me, there is an intention behind every fragrance. If I use it, I want to make a certain point. Later, the memory of this particular moment fills it with meaning, ”says the actor.

The advertising campaign will be released in June 2023, and a mini-movie with his participation will be directed by director Martin Scorsese and will be shown in the fall.
