Nebenzya: West manipulates humanitarian aid in Afghanistan

Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, accused Western countries of trying to manipulate humanitarian aid and assistance to Afghanistan.
“We also see attempts to manipulate humanitarian aid and assistance, demanding that the new Afghan authorities first rectify the domestic political situation and stop challenges,” the permanent representative said (quote according to TASS).
Nebenzia spoke about the consequences of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan a year ago. He noted that an “economic and humanitarian crisis” had arisen in the country. According to Nebenzi, instead of admitting their mistakes, the US “simply blocked the Afghan national financial resources and disconnected the banking system from SWIFT.”
The permanent representative called hypocritical attempts by the West to conduct further dialogue with the Afghan authorities in the language of ultimatums and using the “sanctions club”.
In early August 2021, the Taliban (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) carried out a large-scale operation to establish control over Afghanistan after the US announced the withdrawal of troops from the country. On August 15, the Taliban occupied Kabul, and President Ashraf Ghani left the republic. After that, a mass evacuation of citizens of Western countries and Afghans who collaborated with them began. On the night of August 31, the US military finally left Afghanistan.
