Nebenzya: the tragedy in Dnepropetrovsk was the fault of Kyiv

According to Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, the tragedy in Dnepropetrovsk, where a rocket hit a residential building, could have been avoided if the Ukrainian authorities had followed humanitarian law. Speaking at the UN Security Council, Nebenzya recalled that a Russian missile hit the house after it was shot down by Ukrainian air defense, located in a residential area.
“The target of the missile was an infrastructure object, but it was hit by the Ukrainian air defense forces, which, in violation of the norms of international humanitarian law, which you are so proud of, was placed on the territory of a residential area. The downed missile fell on a residential building. If the Ukrainian authorities had listened to the demand international humanitarian law, this tragedy would not have happened,” Nebenzya explained.
The Russian diplomat also noted that the country’s leadership would not have needed to strike at the critical infrastructure of Ukraine, which supports the military potential, if Kyiv had shown readiness for the negotiation process.
