Nebenzya: Russia no longer has confidence in the West

Russia no longer has confidence in the West and any promises of its representatives, declared Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vasily Nebenzya.
At a meeting of the UN Security Council, convened in connection with the anniversary of the resolution that approved a set of measures to implement the Minsk agreements, the diplomat turned to the Western members of the Security Council, saying that “living as before” would no longer work. Moscow, he noted, sees that the West is “not interested” in building a security system together with Russia, it can only be directed against it.
“We have no confidence left in you, and we can no longer believe in any of your promises. Neither with regard to the non-expansion of NATO to the East, nor about the unwillingness to interfere in our internal affairs, nor about the desire to live in peace and good neighborliness,” he said.
The West showed its “non-negotiability and treachery” by first creating and then stirring up a “neo-Nazi and nationalist hive” on the border with Russia. So far, Moscow has no reason to believe that Western countries can get out of this “vicious circle of lies and self-deception,” Nebenzya added.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow is reviewing its obligations in international organizations, which are infringing on the interests of the country. According to the diplomat, the department is conducting an appropriate inventory: Russia is withdrawing from some conventions and agreements that have already lost their relevance.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly accused the West of unleashing a hybrid war against the Russian Federation. In particular, in September 2022, Lavrov stated that these actions found “unprecedented character”. He noted that the purpose of the hybrid war is the destruction of the Russian economy and stability in the country, as well as the isolation of the Russian Federation in the international arena. On January 20, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that the course taken by the United States to defeat Russia “on the battlefield” is leading the world to a “catastrophic scenario.”
At the end of January, Lavrov announced that a hybrid war has outgrown already in “almost real”.
