Nebenzya: Israel has no right to self-defense as an occupying power

[ad_1]

Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Israel does not have the right to self-defense as an occupying power. He recalled the decision of the International Court of Justice of 2004. At the same time, the Russian diplomat clarified that Moscow recognizes Israel’s right to ensure its security.

Nebenzya also believes that the UN Security Council does not have the right to give Israel carte blanche for a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

Previously, it was stated in Palestine that the Israeli authorities do not have the right to self-defense. Almost all Western countries, including the USA, Italy, Spain, Britain, Canada, etc., hold the opposite opinion. However, many of them make a reservation, pointing out that the Israeli army should not kill civilians.
