During his speech at the UN Security Council, Russian diplomat Vasily Nebenzia asked UN Deputy Secretary General Rosemary DiCarlo if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had promised the head of the international organization, António Guterres, not to launch rocket and artillery strikes on the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
“Recently, UN Secretary General António Guterres visited Kyiv. Russia linked some hopes with this trip, hoping that the UN would finally firmly demand that the Ukrainian authorities stop shelling the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. But we did not manage to hear from António Guterres words of condemnation of what is happening, except for the call that “military actions should bypass the ZNPP,” Nebenzia noted.
“We would like to ask Ms. Rosemary DiCarlo whether the UN Secretary General managed to get Zelensky to promise not to hit the station? What assessment is the UN Secretariat ready to give to the fact that shelling of the station by Ukrainian armed groups continues in the light of the deep concern expressed by the IAEA about the situation?” he added.
Former Russian diplomats demonstrated in the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly photographs, testifying to the facts of shelling of the Zaporizhzhya NPP by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
