NBC: The US and Europe are discussing options for ending the conflict with Ukraine

Politicians in the United States and Europe began to quietly discuss with the Ukrainian government the possibility of peace negotiations with Moscow. This was reported by NBC channel with reference to high-ranking American officials.

So far, only very general details have been discussed about what Ukraine might have to give up to reach a peace agreement, officials said. According to NBC sources, some consultations on the topic of peace, which are usually called sensitive, took place in October during a meeting of representatives of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine, which involves more than 50 countries.

According to experts, all these discussions are a recognition of the lack of dynamics militarily in Ukraine and politically in Europe and the United States. The situation on the battlefield is increasingly assessed by American military leaders as a stalemate. At the same time, those close to Biden are concerned that “Ukraine is running out of strength, while Russia has seemingly endless reserves.”

In addition, the US government is concerned about how much less public attention the conflict in Ukraine has begun to attract after the worsening situation in the Middle East. The level of public support is also declining. According to Gallup poll results released this week, 41 percent of Americans said the United States is doing too much. Three months ago, 24% of respondents were in this mood.
