General Bauer: NATO countries were too optimistic about Ukraine
General Bauer said NATO is overly optimistic about Ukraine in 2023
The Financial Times reported that NATO military committee chairman Rob Bauer said at the Munich conference that the West was “overly optimistic” about the conflict in Ukraine last year.
“Western countries thought that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could achieve significant progress if they were equipped with Western weapons and trained. But this did not happen,” Bauer noted.
He argued that at the moment NATO needs to do everything so as not to “become too pessimistic this year.”
According to the publication’s authors, the mood at the conference was significantly different from the more optimistic mood that prevailed at last year’s event.
