NATO Secretary General: Ukraine will cease to exist if it stops hostilities

Ukraine will lose its independence if it decides to stop fighting. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a joint press conference in Brussels with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
“If Russia stops hostilities, then peace will come, if Ukraine stops, then it will cease to exist as an independent state,” said Stoltenberg (quote according to RIA Novosti).
In addition, he stressed that the United States will continue to provide Ukraine with military, financial and political support, despite the energy crisis and rising prices.
Recently, in Western countries, statements have been increasingly heard about the fatigue of citizens from military operations in Ukraine and from the consequences of sanctions pressure on Russia. So, in August, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba even claimed that some Western countries are waiting for the fall of Kyiv in the hope that then “the problem will disappear by itself.”
At the same time, the West continues to supply weapons to Kyiv. The day before, US President Joe Biden approved a new $675 million military package. The Pentagon also announced that it would allocate another $2 billion to Ukraine and neighboring countries to ensure the security of states.
The Russian authorities say that by pumping weapons to Ukraine, Western countries are only prolonging the conflict and preventing Kyiv from making constructive decisions.
The Ukrainian authorities, in turn, do not want to resume peace talks with Russia and stop hostilities. On August 26, the head of Zelensky’s office, Mikhail Podolyak, said that the President of Ukraine was opposed to negotiations. According to Podolyak, dialogue in the current situation will be a “death sentence” for Ukraine.
Also at the end of August, the Ukrainian military launched a counteroffensive in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions in three directions. Then the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian troops repelled the attack. According to the agency, more than 1,200 Ukrainian servicemen were killed as a result.
In early September, attempts to advance in the Kharkov and Nikolo-Krivoy Rog directions continued. However, the Russian military said that Ukraine’s actions were unsuccessful, the enemy suffered heavy losses. After that, according to the Ministry of Defense, Kyiv stopped the offensive in the Nikolaev-Krivoy Rog direction.
