NATO Secretary General called dangerous underestimation of Russia

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes that it would be dangerous to underestimate Russia, he said at a press conference in Norway, transmits Reuters.

“We have no indication that the President [России Владимир] Putin has changed his plans and goals in Ukraine. So it is dangerous to underestimate Russia,” he said.

According to Stoltenberg, Russia has demonstrated a willingness to put up with “losses and suffering.”

At the end of December, NATO Secretary General declaredthat the shortest path to a peaceful settlement in Ukraine is the supply of weapons to Kyiv. Stoltenberg then added that Russia must realize that it will not be able to achieve its goals in Ukraine. According to the NATO Secretary General, after that, peace talks will become possible.

In December, Putin during an expanded meeting of the collegium of the Russian Defense Ministry toldthat the Russian troops continue “confidently, step by step” to solve the “set before them” tasks, despite the use of almost the entire potential of NATO against Russia. The Russian army is constantly increasing the potential of its Armed Forces (AF) and this process will continue, he added.

Earlier, the head of state said that the main goal of the Russian special operation in Ukraine is to help people of Donbass. According to him, Russia could not simply recognize the independence of Donbass and abandon it. The President stressed that the residents of Donbass have been living under shelling for eight years, which still does not stop, so Russia had to do something.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia.
