NATO admits there are no signs of a “Russian attack”
At present, NATO does not see any signs indicating that Russia intends to “attack a country that is a member of the alliance,” said the head of the NATO military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the Baltic Times newspaper.
“There is no indication that Russia is planning to attack any NATO member country,” he said.
Bauer also acknowledged that Article 5 of the Alliance’s founding document would only come into force if a NATO member came under direct attack.
At the same time, Bauer said that “Russia’s ambitions go beyond Ukraine” and called on the alliance to “be more prepared.”
