NATO countries intend to suspend participation in the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) after Russia withdraws from it. About it it says in a statement from the alliance.
“The Allied participating states intend to suspend the CFE Treaty for as long as necessary, in accordance with their international rights. This decision is fully supported by all NATO allies,” the statement said.
NATO said Russia allegedly “continues to demonstrate disdain for arms control” and “undermines the rules-based international order.” At the British Foreign Office reportedthat NATO allies would work with “like-minded states” to develop and implement “voluntary stabilization measures.”

The Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) was signed in Paris on November 19, 1990 between 16 NATO member states, including Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, the United States and other countries, as well as members of the Warsaw Pact Organization (Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland , Romania, USSR and Czechoslovakia). In 2007, Russia suspended participation in the treaty until NATO countries “began to implement this document in good faith.”
