Izvestia: NATO did not rule out the deployment of nuclear weapons in Poland
NATO did not rule out the transfer of nuclear weapons to Poland when joining the Nuclear Sharing program. About it declared Izvestia in the North Atlantic Alliance.
According to the publication, NATO allies have been constantly adapting the bloc’s planning and strategy since 2014. Poland participates in the alliance’s nuclear planning and exercises as a member of the Nuclear Planning Group program, which allows the deployment of nuclear weapons in countries that do not have such a capability.
However, joining the Nuclear Sharing program is a long and complicated process, so the deployment of nuclear weapons in Poland should not be expected in the near future. To do this, it is necessary to ensure a high degree of warehouse security.
At the moment, the only members of the “nuclear club” are the United States, France and the United Kingdom.
Recall that on June 30, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki asked NATO to deploy American tactical nuclear weapons in the country. According to the politician, Warsaw needs this because of Moscow’s decision to place similar weapons on the territory of Belarus.
