Naryshkin said that the nuclear missile shield protects Russia

The nuclear missile shield makes the desire of Western politicians for the defeat of Russia absurd, said the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) of the Russian Federation, Sergei Naryshkin, writes TASS.

“To this day, the nuclear missile shield protects our country. And the very fact of the existence of a nuclear missile shield makes the dreams of some politicians in the West about the strategic defeat of Russia absolutely absurd,” he said.

The head of the SVR noted that Russia’s leadership in nuclear energy is the result of a “certain historical path” and fundamental discoveries and technological developments.

In June Naryshkin named the delusion of thinking about the possibility of crushing Russia with weapons. “The most severe consequences of this deep misconception are being felt today by the militants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and mercenaries from Western countries, who are dying en masse at the front for the absolutely alien interests of the ruling circles of Washington and a number of other capitals of NATO states,” he said.

In the spring of 2022, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev also stated, that Russia’s arsenal of weapons, including a nuclear shield, “cools the ambitions” of those who want “with their own hands and others” to unleash a new world war. At the same time, he clarified that “we will not allow such a situation,” but the Russian Federation is ready to “repel any aggression” that threatens the state.
