The missile strikes inflicted by the Russian armed forces on the energy supply system of Ukraine on the morning of October 10 were retaliatory measures for the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge. The missiles found their targets in many regions of the Square. In particular, thermal power plants in Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk and Poltava regions fell under the shelling of the Russian Armed Forces.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Shmyhal announced damage to 11 important infrastructure facilities in 8 regions and Kyiv as a result of a raid. “Part of the regions is de-energized. You need to be prepared for temporary interruptions in electricity, water supply and communications.

In Ukraine, backup power supply schemes for facilities are being promptly introduced, many cities were left without water supply. Our sources in Ukraine report that their life has turned into overcoming obstacles. One subscriber admitted that he had just managed to draw water from the tap, make a supply: “And then the water stopped flowing.” Another said bitterly that electricity suddenly went out in their apartment building, and his wife had been stuck in the elevator between floors for the second hour. “But it’s useless to call a locksmith, they have other worries …”

– After the missile attack, did you try to contact relatives or friends in Ukraine? Is this even possible now?

– There was still communication with some regions in the morning. Even with Kyiv. But, in any case, a missile attack on the energy system will create big problems for Ukraine. The metro was completely stopped in Kyiv and Kharkov – I don’t know how it was in Dnepropetrovsk. But it’s quite small. Internet traffic fell by about 75%. Rocket strikes were carried out not only on power plants in some cities, but also on industrial enterprises. In particular, the work of Kryvorizhstal, one of the leading enterprises in Ukraine, which supplies products for export, was significantly disrupted.

Judging by the columns of smoke and the fiery glow shown on social networks, the strikes were accurate. It was not for nothing that the mayor of Kyiv, Klitschko, shouted in a panic that CHPP No. 6 was completely destroyed in the city. True, the local Ministry of Emergency Situations corrected him that it was not completely destroyed. Probably, the Kyiv mayor wanted to write off half of the city budget for this thermal power plant at once.

– Is it possible to calculate the damage at least preliminary?

– It’s still early, but I think it’s colossal. Without electricity, the work of the entire engineering infrastructure of the city, all life at the household level, is disrupted. Starting from sewer networks and to food supply – freezers in stores or refrigerators in residential buildings.

– Army units, as a rule, are not powered by power plants, they have their own autonomous sources of electricity. How can a missile strike affect the combat readiness of Ukrainian headquarters?

– The question is not for me, the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces will give an assessment. Probably, this operation will be followed by the following – fire on warehouses with fuels and lubricants. So that the army diesel generator had nothing to work on.

At the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine, motorists in Kyiv lined up in long lines at gas stations, they were given only 5 liters each, gasoline prices grew by leaps and bounds. Recently, the situation with fuel and lubricants has stabilized there. It is possible that the Russian army will interrupt the chain in the supply of petroleum products.
