The Russian government, having understood the “vector of development”, actively engaged in investing in local health resorts (287 billion rubles every year). But suddenly it turned out that there was simply no one to work in these institutions (sanatoriums, hotels, boarding houses). And not at all because of the absence of unemployment, but because of the quantity and quality of specialists.

Ekaterina Starodubtseva-Kalacheva, founder of the Hurma Recruitment recruitment agency and career consultant, tells MK that general managers of hotels are in great demand on the Russian labor market. By 2027, it is planned to open twice as many hotels as there are in Russia now, so resort managers are very much needed.

“Many international management companies have left the market, and now there are no hotel operators, such specialists can be counted on the fingers,” says the specialist. — And, of course, chefs remain in demand, many of whom have relocated to the concept of Russian restaurateurs abroad. Employers are most willing to pay unique specialists, who are very few in the market. For example, we were recently looking for a chef-baker for a tone oven in Vladivostok, and there were only ten such candidates across the country. Therefore, of course, such workers can count on a good salary.

Medium-sized entrepreneurs from the capital also dream of good cooks. Many professionals moved to Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Turkey. But chefs all over the world are worth their weight in gold.

The director of one of the restaurants in the middle part of the city told MK that he was not able to pay the chef more than 70 thousand rubles a month, because the “load” on other days is “zero”. “My employee left for a five-star hotel,” the restaurateur complains. — There is always breakfast for hotel guests, he justifies his stay on the spot. Well, for lunches and dinners, hotel customers also come, and sometimes from outside, from the street. Even if they do not particularly order food, people are paid at the expense of the ordered alcohol. I understand that a chef deserves a good salary, but in a residential area, I can’t afford this.”





The labor market is not one remote place

“There are two trends that are typical for white-collar workers: remote work and multi-employment, most often in the field of information technology, but not only,” says Aleksey Zakharov, president and founder of SuperJob, to MK. “They apply to all highly qualified specialists who do not need to travel to the office to perform their duties.

There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with that. But the fact is that remote employees have the opportunity to take on the second and third project, which the employer may not even be aware of. As a result, the efficiency of some of these remote employees inevitably falls. What to do with it? There is no definite answer yet, companies are only learning to live with it. For example, some employers are returning people to their offices.

“Obviously, changes in demographics are defeating gender and age discrimination faster than all legislative efforts put together, and this is happening due to a shortage of workers,” Alexei Zakharov continues. “For example, changes in the ratio of men and women have already affected positions where the application of significant physical strength: the share of female applicants increased by 5-6 percentage points in nine months among couriers and order pickers, software testers and sales managers.

The average age of male applicants is rising. System administrators, engineers of instrumentation and automation (instrumentation and automation) and mechanics “aged” by 3 years; security guards, millers, power engineers, electricians, carpenters and CNC machine operators – for 2 years. It is important to understand that the number of age applicants has not increased – the percentage has changed due to a decrease in the number of applicants under 45 years old.

Trends that will affect the labor market in the IT industry in 2023: remote recruitment of developers from the regions will continue to develop; in the competition for highly qualified personnel, priority is given to companies that provide a respite from mobilization; The most attractive projects in terms of salaries will be software and technology import substitution projects.

Specialists in information security will also remain in high demand, including in ensuring the security of critical information infrastructure. Companies are literally hunting for highly qualified candidates, but there are very few of them.

According to the SuperJob Research Center, e-commerce and digital promotion specialists will be lucky this year, as they directly affect the profits of companies.

Surprisingly, there remains a significant shortage of personnel in the medical field. Basically, their specialization has returned to the pre-COVID level, infectious disease specialists are no longer particularly needed.

In the pharmaceutical industry, there is still a high demand for engineering and technical specialists in production. But the pharmacy segment faced rising prices, a decrease in sales volumes, and a slowdown in revenue growth. The number of offline pharmacies is being optimized, and this affects, first of all, the maximum salary offers.

Qualified personnel officers with experience in crisis management are still in demand. Salaries in the personnel sector over the past year increased by 12.2%.

How to enter IT

Where do labor market experts recommend applicants go this year? This refers not to universities themselves, but to faculties and directions.

There is a huge shortage among gynecologists and dentists, as well as their assistants. However, successful representatives of these specialties always had good salaries, and even tips from grateful patients. Nothing will change in the coming years.

“I would recommend applicants to keep in mind that not only the medical and IT spheres will be popular, but also the hotel and restaurant business, this industry is the future,” recommends Ekaterina Starodubtseva-Kalacheva. – Faculties of hotel and restaurant business, socio-cultural tourism and service will definitely be in demand.

— Companies continue to actively recruit employees in all areas. This winter, you can and should go to work in all industries. Russia is a huge labor market, and in all sectors it remains under-resourced, a huge number of vacancies are now open. It is incorrect to say that some specialists are especially in demand: we cannot live without programmers and doctors exactly the same as without teachers and catering technologists, – notes Alexey Zakharov.

As for promising industries, you need to do what the soul lies in, the expert says: “We have already seen an increased interest in the field of mobile applications, blockchain, and cryptocurrencies. But no one has yet guessed what will be in demand in 10 years. My advice is to always send your child to learn what he is interested in. In any case, he will be ahead of those who went to study for the same thing, but who do not have a heart for this.”

According to the SuperJob Research Center, 45% of parents reported the intention of their child to continue their studies at the university after graduation. This year, parents speak about their child’s desire to enter a secondary educational institution, a school or college, more often than ever: 29% of respondents. Every hundredth parent spoke about the readiness of their daughter or son to go to work immediately after graduation.

Among university applicants, the most popular area in 2023 is information technology: 28% of respondents are going to “enter IT”. In second place is a doctor (13%), in third place is an engineer (9%). Children of 6% of respondents are preparing to enter the economist. 4% of parents each told about their child’s plans to become a lawyer, designer, architect and coach.

Those who enroll in secondary educational institutions also most often opt for IT specialties: every fourth respondent (25%) spoke about such intentions of their children. Every ninth (11%) child is going to study as a nurse, nurse or paramedic, 8% – as a lawyer. 7% each reported plans for their children to become teachers, builders, car mechanics, and skilled workers.

The labor market has traditionally seen an increase in the number of seasonal vacancies, among which one of the highest paid vacancies are mining enterprises, especially in the Far North. A high level of remuneration implies vacancies in the field of shipping and in the fishing industry.
