The Central Election Commission cannot allow the candidate from the “Civil Initiative”, Boris Nadezhdin, to participate in the presidential elections in Russia due to a marriage detected in the submitted signatures. Boris Nadezhdin said that he did not agree with the decision of the Central Election Commission and would appeal it. He also suggested that the CEC postpone the refusal of registration until February 10 to continue verifying signatures.

“Running for President in 2024 is the most important political decision of my life. I do not retreat from my intentions. I will appeal the decision of the Central Election Commission to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation,” Mr. Nadezhdin wrote on his Telegram channel.

The CEC also refused to register the leader of the Communists of Russia, Sergei Malinkovich. Mr. Malinkovic decided not to appeal this decision.

The CEC invalidated 9,147 signatures in support of Boris Nadezhdin. 95,587 signatures were recognized as reliable. The candidate from the “Communists of Russia” Sergei Malinkovich had 96,019 signatures recognized as valid, 8,979 – invalid.
