Politician Boris Nadezhdin, who was nominated by the Civil Initiative party, was not allowed to participate in the presidential elections primarily due to “unsatisfactory work” during the election campaign, Vladimir Putin said during a visit to his campaign headquarters.

“It was probably necessary to work more actively with our supporters, not to make mistakes, not to allow falsifications. According to my data, the required number of votes required to participate in the elections was not collected,” Mr. Putin said. This is how he answered a journalist’s question whether it was a democratic decision to deny access to elections to a candidate who opposes the fighting in Ukraine.

The CEC refused to register Mr. Nadezhdin on February 8. Based on the results of checking 105 thousand signatures that the politician submitted to the Central Election Commission, the Central Election Commission commission considered 9,147 signatures invalid and 95,587 signatures valid.

Boris Nadezhdin has repeatedly challenged the CEC’s decision in the Supreme Court. The politician filed lawsuits demanding recognition refusal in his registration as a candidate is illegal, and the instructions of the Central Election Commission for verification list collectors of signatures for his nomination – discriminatory. None of Mr. Nadezhdin’s claims were satisfied.

Details – in the material “Kommersant” “Boris Nadezhdin signed a waiver.”
