The Chairman of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, admitted that the key rate could be raised, but how much would depend on the situation in the economy at the time of the decision.
“Pro-inflationary risks now prevail, they are even increasing. Of course, we admit the possibility of a rate increase,” she said on the sidelines of the Financial Congress on July 6.
“Whether it will be one-time, whether there will be a whole cycle – everything will depend on the development of the situation, which we will analyze. Therefore, it is premature to predetermine this now, ”said the head of the regulator (quote from “RIA News”).
“Proinflationary risks have slightly increased since the last meeting. This is also related to the dynamics of the exchange rate. But in July we will make a decision based on all factors,” added Elvira Nabiullina.
At a meeting on June 9, the Board of Directors of the Central Bank saved key rate at 7.5% per annum. The next rate meeting will take place on July 21.
