Writer and politician Zakhar Prilepin said that he has currently temporarily suspended his powers as co-chairman of the A Just Russia – For Truth party. According to Mr. Prilepin, such a decision was made in connection with his participation in the Russian military operation in Ukraine.

“My co-chairmanship has been suspended because I am a military man. I am not directly involved in political work, although I am aware of many things. My team works in the humanitarian and political spheres, and I lead them, I just don’t make political statements. Because the Russian Guard won’t understand,” Zakhar Prilepin said in an interview with the publication Daily Storm.

According to him, he also did not take part in the Just Russia election campaign for the 2023 regional elections. Including, as the writer emphasized, he was not involved in the party’s campaign in new regions of the Russian Federation (DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions). Zakhar Prilepin also said that the leader of A Just Russia – For Truth, Sergei Mironov, did not consult with him when he decided that the party would not put forward its candidate in the 2024 presidential elections, but would support the current head of state, Vladimir Putin.

Mr. Prilepin became co-chairman of the Socialist Revolutionaries in February 2021 after his own party “For Truth!” joined A Just Russia. In the status of co-chairman, Zakhar Prilepin was included in the electoral top three of the “A Just Russia—For Truth” list for the 2021 State Duma elections, but ultimately refused his deputy mandate. On website party, Mr. Prilepin currently continues to be listed as one of its co-chairs and the head of the “chamber of deputies” “A Just Russia—For Truth”; no information about the suspension of his powers has been posted there.
