MWM: Patriot air defense systems turned out to be useless for protecting Ukraine from Russian aviation

MWM: Ukraine’s air defense will be completely suppressed by May 23
The American edition of Military Watch Magazine reports in its material that the Pentagon fears the suppression of the Ukrainian air defense system by May 23, which will allow Russia to use its air advantage to launch a major offensive. At the same time, it turned out that the Patriot systems supplied by the West would not solve the problems.
The publication refers to secret Pentagon documents leaked to the Web, which say that the air defense of the Ukrainian Air Force is working effectively, but without further replenishment, it risks being depleted. This could be critical to the fighting, as it would allow Russia to conduct large-scale operations deep in the airspace of a neighboring country.
Western countries hastened to supply Ukraine with their own air defense systems. Thus, the first Patriot missile batteries have already been transferred to Kyiv by the Netherlands. However, they are only available in small quantities. In addition, the Patriot air defense system is inferior in mobility even to the old Soviet systems. Therefore, they are vulnerable to air defense suppression means. In this regard, as the publication suggests, these systems will be mainly used to protect large cities and in the rear and will not be able to cover forward positions.
The magazine also notes that the United States has stated that the active US military will not serve these systems. “Many considered this signal a green light for their destruction,” the author of the material suggests.
