The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, said that the American entrepreneur Elon Musk indeed turned off its Starlink satellite communication systems in the Crimea region.
In an interview with the Drive media company, he said that there had been cases of communication blackouts near the peninsula before. At the same time, Budanov did not comment in detail on the case “that everyone is talking about.” It was previously reported that Musk allegedly ordered the shutdown of Starlink to counter the attack on the Crimean Bridge.
Budanov clarified that in the interview he was not talking about “that specific moment,” but in general about the fact of the shutdown, which “lasted a month.”
According to him, at the beginning of hostilities the Starlink network was not over Crimea at all.
