The unit kept turning off
A Muscovite managed to win 82,500 rubles from a store that sold a hairdryer – a counterfeit of a well-known brand. The unit, which cost 50,000 rubles, did not dry my hair well and kept switching off.
As MK found out, some time ago Alexey (name changed) purchased a hair-styler from a popular expensive brand in a store. However, the product did not live up to expectations – it only worked at very low power, switched off spontaneously, and a number of parts differed from those stated at the time of sale.
The man decided to have the device repaired; fortunately, the warranty on it was valid until January 2025. He took the hair dryer to the service center, the address of which was indicated on the warranty card. To his surprise, after inspection they refused to repair it. The service specialists came to the conclusion that the hairdryer is not an original product and was not made by the declared brand.
Realizing that the store was selling fakes at the prices of the original, Alexey turned to the seller with a demand to either return the money or replace the hairdryer with a genuine one. However, his claim remained unanswered.
Then Alexey filed a lawsuit in the Tverskoy court, and Rospotrebnadzor prepared a conclusion, which stated that the consumer’s demands are legal and justified, and must be satisfied in full.
Themis supported the buyer and ordered the company that sold the goods of inadequate quality to pay the client 82,500 rubles. 50,000 is the amount paid for the hair dryer, 27,500 is a fine for the fact that the seller did not settle the dispute voluntarily, and 5,000 is compensation for moral damage. Alexey must also return the faulty device to the store.
