There will be no general mobilization in the Russian Federation. This was stated by Andrey Kartapolov, chairman of the Defense Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, in an interview with Parlamentskaya Gazeta.
As Kartapolov noted, fears that the amendments to the legislation adopted today by the State Duma will precede the mobilization are groundless. The deputy noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin had repeatedly stated through his press secretary Dmitry Peskov that he would not announce mobilization.
The law, according to Kartapolov, was adopted not for a special military operation, but for long-term purposes. However, the current situation, according to the deputy, really contributed to the adoption of these amendments.
Recall that the State Duma adopted amendments to the legislation, toughening responsibility for a number of crimes committed in wartime and in martial law, as well as those related to the performance of military service duties.
