Moskalkova did not discuss the creation of a humanitarian corridor with the Ombudsman of Ukraine

The issue of opening a humanitarian corridor for the wounded was not raised at the meeting of the Ombudsmen of the Russian Federation and Ukraine. This was stated by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova.

Moskalkova stressed that this issue was not raised both at the meeting with the Ukrainian counterpart and during the tripartite negotiations between the Ombudsmen of the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Turkey.
The Ombudswoman added that Russia “will expect” clarity from Turkey on the idea of creating a humanitarian corridor. “You have to understand what is meant,” she said. Moskalkova also noted that such decisions are impossible without the consent of the Ministry of Defense and the supreme power of the Russian Federation.
On the eve of January 11, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan supported the idea to organize humanitarian corridors for the wounded in connection with the situation in Ukraine. He added that Turkey is ready to take over their treatment, as it is a “humanitarian duty” of the country.
Earlier, this initiative was expressed by the Turkish Ombudsman Sheref Malkoch. On January 10, he announced that he intended to discuss the possibility of opening a humanitarian corridor with the Russian and Ukrainian sides.
January 11 in Ankara took place negotiations between the Ombudsmen of the Russian Federation and Ukraine. Moskalkova and Lubinets discussed issues of providing humanitarian assistance to citizens of the two countries. Later, trilateral talks were also held, joined by Turkish Ombudsman Sheref Malkoç and Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Mustafa Sentop. According to Moskalkova, during the meeting, an important thesis was made about the need for a ceasefire.
