The Russian Federation demanded that Germany recognize the atrocities of Nazi Germany as acts of genocide

Russia demanded that Germany officially recognize the blockade of Leningrad and other crimes against the peoples of the USSR as an act of genocide by the Third Reich. This is stated in a note from the Russian Embassy in Germany.

As noted in the document, the Russian side notes the contradictory nature of the German approach to the issue of officially recognizing crimes against humanity committed by Germany in the past as acts of genocide.

Russian diplomats also noted that they had read the official statement of the German Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the lifting of the siege of Leningrad, which confirmed Germany’s historical responsibility for “one of the most terrible crimes against humanity committed by the Nazi regime against the peoples of the Soviet Union.”
