Moscow City Duma deputy Yevgeny Stupin announced his expulsion from the Communist Party

Moscow City Duma deputy from the Communist Party Yevgeny Stupin said in his Telegramchannel that today, March 14, the city committee of the capital expelled him from the party. The reason for this, in particular, was the signing by the deputy on February 24, 2022 of the letter “Socialists and Communists against the war,” Mr. Stupin believes.
“Even the first deputy of Zyuganov G. A., Afonin Yu. V., came to the meeting and actively lobbied for my expulsion … Zubrilin and Rashkin (the head of the Moscow city committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Nikolai Zubrilin and the former leader of the metropolitan communists Valery Rashkin voted for my exclusion. — ”b”“, – wrote Mr. Stupin.
In his publication, he listed three grounds for his exclusion from the party: signing the letter “Socialists and Communists Against the War” on the day the special operation in Ukraine began, providing a positive reference to the oppositionist and ex-deputy of the Krasnoselsky district of Moscow, Ilya Yashin, who was convicted of fake news about the army (recognized foreign agent) and voting against the report of the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in the Moscow City Duma in 2022.
It was not possible to get Nikolai Zubrilin’s comment to Kommersant promptly. Ex-State Duma deputy Valery Rashkin also did not respond to Kommersant’s request to confirm or deny the exclusion of Mr. Stupin from the Communist Party.
At the same time, Moscow City Duma deputy and secretary of the capital’s city party committee Pavel Tarasov, as well as a Kommersant source who was present at the meeting of the city committee, confirmed the exclusion of Yevgeny Stupin from the party. At the same time, a Kommersant source close to the Communist Party faction in the Moscow City Duma said that deputy Stupin had not yet been expelled from the faction.
Recall that during the work of the seventh convocation of the Moscow City Duma, in which the Communist Party faction significantly increased its representation, this is the third case of expulsion of a deputy from the ranks of the Communist Party. In March 2021, deputies Elena Shuvalova and Dmitry Loktev, who had previously been expelled from the party, were expelled from the Communist Party faction. One of the reasons for Ms. Shuvalova’s expulsion was a round table in November 2019, to which she invited now-convicted opposition leader Alexei Navalny. And Mr. Loktev was expelled from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation for failure to comply with the pre-election memorandum of the Moscow City Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. The deputy himself attributed his exclusion to the fact that he did not support the draft city budget in 2019.
