More than 620 more people will be able to leave through the Rafah checkpoint

Administration of the Rafah checkpoint on the border with Egypt published another list of people who will be able to leave the Gaza Strip through it. There are no Russian citizens in it.

There are a total of 621 people on the list, more than half of them are US citizens. The list also includes citizens of Great Britain, Germany, Italy, France, Indonesia and Mexico.

For the first time since the start of the war in the Middle East, Cairo opened the Rafah checkpoint on November 1 to evacuate the wounded, as well as foreign citizens from the Gaza Strip. The Egyptian government agreed to allow 81 wounded Palestinians and over 400 foreign citizens into its territory.

On November 2, the Gaza Strip border guards allowed about 600 more foreigners to leave through the Rafah checkpoint. The list included 400 Americans, as well as citizens of Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belgium, Hungary, Greece, Italy, Mexico and others. As reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a representative of the border crossing, checkpoint crossed more than 400 people.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported that it had provided the authorities of the countries involved with information about Russian citizens who would like to evacuate from the Gaza Strip. Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, noted that about 1,000 Russian citizens and members of their families became virtual hostages of the military blockade of Gaza.

The Gaza-based Palestinian group Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7. The Israeli army responded by launching Operation Iron Swords. On October 27, the Israeli military announced an expansion of the ground operation and called on residents of the northern Gaza Strip to move to the south, promising them humanitarian assistance. On November 2, the Israeli army conducted an operation to encircle Gaza City.
