More than 600 passengers of delayed iFly flights to Egypt have been placed in hotels

About 620 passengers who were supposed to fly on an iFly flight to Egypt were temporarily accommodated in Moscow hotels due to a delay. Some passengers decided to wait out the flight delay at home. This was reported in the press service of the carrier iFly.
“More than 620 passengers were accommodated in hotels, some of the passengers living in Moscow preferred to wait for information on the departure at home,” the company said in a statement. Tourists who were supposed to fly to Russia from Egypt have extended their stay in hotels in Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.
Jordan has banned iFly from flying through its airspace due to lack of an insurance certificate. The airline was unable to provide the document due to sanctions against Russian carriers. Other airlines cannot enter Egypt either: for example, NordWind and Icarus, which have dual registration. Because of this, carriers ask Rosaviation to lift the ban on flights through Syria, introduced almost ten years ago.
On December 15, due to long delays, the Federal Air Transport Agency recommended that iFly carry passengers on flights of other airlines. The next day the company postponed flights to Egypt through Syrian airspace to comply with the recommendations of the Federal Air Transport Agency.
