More than 3.7 million people have arrived in Russia from the territory of Ukraine and Donbass since February, TASS reports citing law enforcement agencies.
“According to the latest data, more than 3.7 million refugees, including 594,000 children, have arrived in the Russian Federation since February,” informed agency source.
About half of those who came to Russia are residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. By decision of the Russian government, the refugees were provided with material assistance in the amount of 7.3 billion rubles, the agency notes. On the eve of President Vladimir Putin, by his decree installed for refugees from the DPR, LPR and from Ukraine, monthly payments, including pensions, of 10,000 rubles.
According to the latest UN data, since the beginning of the special military operation, the Ukrainian border has been crossed 11,536,470 times. At the same time, almost 5 million citizens have returned to the country since February 28. It is noted that this figure reflects cross-border movements and not individuals.
“The return to Ukraine can be cyclical and does not necessarily indicate a sustainable return, as the situation in Ukraine remains highly volatile and unpredictable,” the UN said.
About 6.8 million people left Ukraine for Europe, according to the organization’s website.
On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation, the goals of which were the denazification, demilitarization of Ukraine and the liberation of the LPR and DPR.
