Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki reminded Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about the accepted refugees from Ukraine.
“Poland accepted a couple of million Ukrainians under our roofs. <...> It would be worth it for Mr. President Zelensky not to forget about this,” he said at the congress of the ruling Law and Justice party (quote according to RIA Novosti).
Relations between Kiev and Warsaw deteriorated after the European Commission (EC) lifted restrictions on the import of Ukrainian grain to Eastern European countries on September 15. Later, Ukraine filed claims with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, which renewed the embargo on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products.
Zelensky, speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York, accused Warsaw of helping Russia with the ban. In turn, the Polish authorities have repeatedly noted that restrictions are needed for market stability and support for local farmers.
September 25, Minister of the Office of the President of the Republic Andrzej Duda, Head of the International Policy Bureau Marcin Przydacz notedthat Warsaw will cope without friendship with Kiev. He also criticized the behavior of the Ukrainian president, calling his actions “unfair to many Poles.”
