Prime Minister Morawiecki: Poland strengthens security on the border with the Kaliningrad region
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced the strengthening of security on the border with the Kaliningrad region, Polskie Radio reports.
Morawiecki said that Warsaw would provide “physical and electronic security” there and increase the presence of “border guards and all services.”
According to him, security on the border with the Kaliningrad region will be strengthened following the example of the border with Belarus: “modern units, modern weapons will be located”, which “will ensure increased security for residents.”
On April 18, Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski announced the start of construction of an electronic firewall on the border with Russia, so that there “there was full monitoring of what is happening.” According to the Polish border service, the work is scheduled until the end of September.
In November 2022, Poland began building a temporary barbed wire fence on the border with the Kaliningrad region. In February, additional fortifications and anti-tank hedgehogs were installed there.
