President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh signed a decree on the restoration of the capital of the Mongolian Empire in the mid-13th century. the city of Karakorum in the valley of the Orkhon River, reported on the site of the head of the republic.
“The purpose of the decree is to create conditions for citizens to live in a healthy and safe environment, expand access to basic social services, decentralize the population, ensure a balanced development of the regions, strengthen the valuable heritage of the state, restore its history and culture,” the message says.
The Government of Mongolia was instructed to prepare the necessary legal framework, as well as to develop a master plan for the development of the city and related infrastructure.
“Reconstruction of the city of Karakoram is a grandiose creative activity, and it is clear that it will require a lot of time, money, hard work and dedication. According to him, after restoration the city can become a new center of spiritual, scientific and cultural development of Mongolia. In 2004, the surrounding remnants of the Karakoram city of Kharkhorin and the cultural landscape of the Orkhon River Valley were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
