Syrian militias launched rocket attacks on US positions in eastern Syria, reported Iranian Fars News Agency.
Responsibility for the attack was claimed by the “People’s Resistance in the East of the Euphrates” operating against US forces in Syria. The militia said in a statement that four rockets were fired at a base in the Al-Omar oil field, five more rockets were fired at a base in the area of the field, and one was fired at the Al-Shaddadi base, where US forces were stationed.
“The popular resistance in Syria has confirmed that it will continue to destroy the strongholds of the American occupying forces, wherever they are,” the statement said.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry in April urged the United States to stop supporting terrorism and separatism and immediately withdraw from Syrian territories. Last summer, the Syrian Foreign Ministry also sent letters to UN Secretary General António Guterres and the Organization’s Security Council pointing out $107.1 billion in damage to the Syrian economy in the oil and gas sector due to oil theft by the Americans. The US Army controls some territories in the north and northeast of Syria.
