Mishustin urged to localize the production of medical equipment

The production of medical equipment should be, where possible, localized in Russia, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during a visit to the new building of the regional oncology dispensary in Ryazan.

“Everything that can be done in Russia today must be done in Russia. Every penny of added value produced by the hands of Russians, in this sense, is a contribution to import substitution and the creation of the country’s technological and economic sovereignty, – leads his words TASS.

Mishustin stressed that modern consoles, oxygen and vacuum can be produced in Russia.

“The most important thing is to provide spare parts and quality service,” he said, also recalling the subsidies provided to domestic producers.

Earlier in February, Roszdravnadzor offered allow, from September 1, 2023, the repair of medical equipment with non-original spare parts. The agency fears the imposition of Western sanctions against the Russian healthcare industry, which has not yet been affected by the restrictions. In the event of further sanctions pressure, the industry may have problems with the supply of original components or accessories.

In the spring of 2022, the government restricted the export of medical equipment from Russia to all countries, with the exception of the EAEU, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, without special permits from the relevant ministries. In July, manufacturers of medical equipment asked the government to relax this measure, pointing out the risk of its secondary shortage in the market. After that, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that they were working on lifting the ban on the export of medical equipment.
