Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree that expands the list of border points where foreign citizens can use a single electronic visa. Three sections of the sea checkpoint Big Port St. Petersburg were added to the list – Fort Konstantin, Angliskaya Embankment and Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment, reported on the cabinet website.
Mishustin’s signing of the order is part of the preparatory work for the launch of a single electronic visa, with which it is expected that it will be possible to visit Russia from July 1 this year.
You can apply for a visa in a special section on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry for tourist, business, humanitarian and guest trips, invitations and hotel reservations are not needed, the government stressed.
An electronic visa is issued no longer than four days, for children under six years old it will be free.
In December 2022, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Vedomosti that the practical launch of the unified electronic visa project was frozen due to a response to restrictions from unfriendly states. Then the project was postponed until the end of 2022. As Asiyat Khalvashi, director of aviation commerce at the Air Gates of the Northern Capital (the management company of Pulkovo Airport), said earlier, the introduction of a visa-free regime or an electronic visa with countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East will allow Pulkovo to attract an additional 2.5 million passengers a year.
