On August 24, the prime ministers of the EAEU countries discussed the preparation of policy documents in Yerevan, which will largely determine whether the union will remain exclusively trade or will begin to develop more intensively into an economic one. A meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council is scheduled for the end of the year, where a strategy for the future up to 2030 and up to 2045 should be adopted. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, speaking at a meeting of the intergovernmental council, said that the EAEU should finally become a “self-sufficient region.”
“The Eurasian Economic Union plays the role of one of the poles of the emerging multipolar world. And it remains open to new partners,” the prime minister believes. In addition to the traditional integration of the fuel and food markets for the EAEU, Mishustin emphasized, issues of technological sovereignty, as well as financial regulation, are coming to the fore.
