Mishustin called digital assets a “safe alternative” to international payments

It is necessary to introduce digital assets that will ensure uninterrupted payment for imports and exports. Such a statement by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin did during the strategic session on the development of the financial system.

Mishustin drew attention to the importance of ensuring the technological independence of the infrastructure and cybersecurity of financial organizations.

“We need to intensively develop innovative areas, including the implementation of digital assets,” he said. The Prime Minister stressed that such a step would be “a safe alternative for all parties.” He also pointed out that the development of digital assets will be able to ensure uninterrupted payment for the supply of goods.

In addition, Mishustin said that it is necessary to gradually abandon the currencies of “unfriendly countries.” He emphasized the importance of continuing to increase the share of international payments in rubles.

Mishustin specified that the efforts of the government and the Central Bank should be aimed at creating “effective solutions that meet the challenges of the new time.”

Digital financial assets (DFA) are digital rights, the issue, accounting and circulation of which is possible only by making entries in the information system or by changing them. The CFA Law came into force on January 1, 2021. According to it, companies that the Central Bank included in the register can create their own platforms for issuing and exchanging CFA. The first operator on the registry was the Atomyze blockchain platform. Later added to the list Sberbank.
