Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin flew to Shanghai, this is his first official visit to China as head of the Russian government, informs press service of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Telegram channel.
“In Shanghai, at the gangway of the plane, the Prime Minister was met by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to the PRC Igor Morgulov, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the PRC to Russia Zhang Hanhui,” the message says.
During the working visit, Mishustin will take part in a meeting of the Russian-Chinese business forum, visit the Shanghai Research Institute of Petrochemistry, hold meetings with the president of the BRICS New Development Bank and representatives of Russian business circles.
After as before announced in the press service of the Cabinet, the Russian prime minister will go to Beijing. There, he is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Chinese President Xi Jinping paid an official visit to Russia on March 20-22. During the trip, he invited Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to come to Beijing. Xi Jinping clarified that he invited the Russian leader to visit Beijing “at a convenient time for him” in 2023, since this year China will host the third international forum within the framework of the “One Belt – One Road”. He added that Putin had taken part in the previous two forums.
In March, during a meeting in Moscow with Mishustin, Xi Jinping noted that Beijing attaches great importance to cooperation in linking this initiative with the Eurasian Economic Union.
